EAST Lancashire pop princess Diana Vickers’ small screen debut is finally set to hit television sets next month.

The 23-year-old former X Factor semi-finalist filmed scenes for Give Out Girls last year, but the show is yet to be aired after a wrangle between two satellitte channels.

The ex-Westholme School student, who scored a number one single with Once in 2010, has turned her hand to acting after winning praise for her performances in West End stage shows.

Miss Vickers, from Huncoat, shot six episodes of the sitcom in Manchester. The programme was commissioned by Sky to be broadcast on Sky Living last year but will now debut on Comedy Central on October 14.

She stars alongside stars Kerry Howard, Miranda Hennessy and Cariad Lloyd as a public relations worker called Gemma.

A Comedy Central spokesperson said: “Give Out Girls is a fresh new sitcom about the stories and secrets of a gang of four girls, two guys and their boss who work in the world of promotions.

“Being ignored or verbally abused is just part of the job for these girls as they vie to become the all important top seller of the day.

“Give Out Girls follows the team as they are let loose flogging dodgy goods in even dodgier locations, whilst injecting as much mischief into the day as they can to make it pass as quickly as possible.”

The show, which was filmed by Popper Pictures and Big Talk Productions, was written by Tony MacMurray and Hatty Ashdown.

Awaiting, an independent film which also stars Miss Vickers, held a preview screening in York earlier this month.

The singer, who also designed a clothing collection for fashion retailer Very.co.uk, supported fellow X Factor contestant Olly Murs in 2013 and last released Music to Make Boys Cry in September 2013.
