Vandals destroy war memorial shelter

VANDALS have damaged a shelter that was built to commemorate those who died in the First World War.

Coun Lynn Wilson, conservative councillor for the Netherton ward of Great Harwood, said the hut in the town's Memorial Park had seen it walls and roof smashed to pieces last night.

Police confirmed they were investigating the matter.

Hey Angryman.!

I know some People may feel hurt. But lets try to keep or self control and put things into perspective without having to hate and kill and express violence to a bunch of youngsters.

Nobody Died. Nobody got wounded or had any limbs amputated in this tragic event.

Its just a building, it can be put back together again.

I know Gt. Harwood is a long way from civilisation but

why get your selves into a hate fueled frenzy toward the young. Don't wait for an excuse to hate.

Get rid of the hate.

Where there should be tenderness people have ushered in reasons to hate.

The problem with society today is that there is no deterrent. The whole Criminal Justice System needs overhauling. Prison is not a deterrent, mainly because the sentences are too lenient and immediately halved for 'good behaviour'. The sentence passed should be the sentence served and time should be added for bad behaviour. Cautioning should be abolished and all minor offences should be punished by community service. God knows there are enough areas that would benefit from forced labour. People who default on fines should be able to work off their debt to society and there would then be spaces in Prisons for the dangerous scum to be kept off the streets. Somebody on the thread mentioned stocks. That would be a brilliant idea. How many of these toy town gangsters that terrorise their own communities, would relish the thought of being shamed in such a way. C' mon government, bring some sanity back to this once proud nation.

Disgraceful behaviour from a pack of ignorant morons.The trouble is that if and when caught they will get nothing more than a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. Why not bring back the stocks and place them in the market square and put these sort of idiots in them for the day and we can all go along and throw rotten fruit and vegs at them like they did decades back, an old way of name and shame but it worked then so why not now. Better justice than the courts dish out.
