Great Harwood woman celebrates 100th birthday
12:51pm Wednesday 20th June 2012 in Great Harwood
Elsie Aspden turned 100 this week
ELSIE Aspden celebrated her 100th birthday with a pop-in party and a letter from the Queen, parliament and her doctor.
Elsie, from Great Harwood, didn’t leave her house on her special day in case family and friends popped in to wish her Happy Birthday.
Yesterday amongst her 50-plus guests were her four step-children, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Step-daughter and daughter-in-law Eileen Bridge said: “She is absolutely amazing and fantastic.
She is full of fun and was really thrilled by it all.
“She never goes out on her birthday because she waits for people to come round.
“We had a pop-in party where everyone who came signed their name in her book.”
Elsie, right, is all smiles with a card that reflects her amazing life.
