A PUB has reopened and launched its new food menu after a £300,000 refurbishment.

The Park Inn reopened its doors in Great Harwood after being closed for around six weeks for a refurbishment.

Craig and Darina Currie have taken over the venue in Harwood Lane and have looked to create a 'new fresh inviting environment'.

The £300,000 investment has been a joint venture between the pair and pub group Admiral Taverns.

The new licensees, who have experience in the pub trade, are hoping the work will attract new customers.

Craig is a chef and Darina has managed restaurants before.

Mr Currie said: "The Park Inn is in a fantastic location with so much potential.

"Through the refurbishment we wanted to give the pub the sparkling new look it deserves, offering its loyal locals a warm and welcoming environment, delicious food and an impressive range of drinks.

"Whether it’s a big sports match, quiz night, a charity fundraising evening, or just a quiet drink with friends, the Park Inn will offer something for everyone and we can’t wait to welcome back our regulars, and hopefully some new faces following the reopening.”

The money has been spent to 'completely refurbish the exterior and interior' of the pub.

The pub is launched its new seasonal food menu at 5pm, which uses locally sourced ingredients from regional suppliers.

The refurbishment at the pub has seen a new and extensive wine list being brought in.

They also offer a broad range of cask and real ales, gins and a select cocktail menu.

John York, business development manager for the area at Admiral Taverns, said the new owners are set to turn the pub into a 'real asset' for the area.

Mr York said: "I would like to congratulate Craig and Darina on the transformation at the Park Inn.

"They have a strong vision for the pub and are determined to turn it into a real asset for the local community, one which people will be proud to come back to time and time again and bring their friends.”

Cllr Gareth Molineux, who represents Great Harwood on Hyndburn Council, has booked a table for food at the venue tonight.

He said: "It's great news for the area.

"The Park has needed renovation for that area.

"I think it is brilliant that we have got people bringing this sort of food into the area.

"The feeling around the area is that people are absolutely buzzing about this.

"I think they have done a brilliant job, they have managed to modernise it while still keeping the feel of what The Park was."
