A 28-YEAR-OLD man who started an attack on his partner by hitting her with a feather duster later used an adjustable spanner to hold her down by the throat.
Blackburn magistrates heard Christopher Stephen Haycock also kicked his partner in the stomach during the attack while she was holding their 10-months-old child in her arms.
Haycock, of Lower Fold, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to assaulting Georgina Greenwood. He was remanded on bail until May 10 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Enza Geldard, prosecuting, said after the initial blow with the feather duster the situation cooled and Miss Greenwood went upstairs.
She had the child in her arms when he attacked her again.
"He used an adjustable spanner to hold her down and choked her with it," said Mrs Geldard.
"He kicked her in the stomach and then took her mobile phone and tried to damage it by putting it in the microwave.
She managed to call the police and he ran away."
Haycock, who was not represented, said he had the spanner in his hand because Miss Greenwood had come at him with a framed picture which broke.
He said he accepted the details put forward by the prosecution.
