A PLAN for a drive-thru cafe in Great Harwood will create 10 new jobs according to newly-published documents.

A formal planning application has been submitted to Hyndburn Council for consideration.

The proposal relates to un-used land next to Aldi in Heys Street, Great Harwood.

A spokesman for the applicant said: “The site is vacant brownfield land.

“A further permission has recently been granted by Hyndburn Council for additional car parking on land to the south of the application site to increase the number of spaces to 112.

“The would be accessed from the existing Aldi car park and has been designed to integrate with both the extended car parking scheme currently being considered by the council.

“The layout will ensure the overall number of parking spaces will remain at 112.

“The drive-thru lane will start wound two thirds of the way into the site and will wrap back around.

“The layout has been designed to minimise the risk of excessive queues.

“Following a review of potential alternative sites within and on the edge of Great Harwood town centre is has been concluded there are no preferable sites both available and suitable.”
