A ‘MEAN thief’ who stole a friend’s mobile phone while stopping at his home in Great Harwood has been jailed for two months.

Ryan Seward, 21, had gone round to Dale Nuttall’s house when he heard that he had been seeing his former girlfriend, Burnley Crown Court was told.

The pair resolved their differences and went out a for a drink together.

Prosecutor Stephen Parker said Mr Nuttall awoke the next morning to find that his mobile phone had been stolen. He confronted Seward, who was also stopping in Heywood Street, and he retrieved it from his trousers and handed it back.

Seward, of School Street, Great Harwood, denied burglary but admitted a theft charge.

Jailing Seward, Recorder Mark Ainsworth said: “It was a particularly mean offence.”

Seward had been on remand since the end of March.
