A SKIP hire firm has lost six years' worth of paperwork after a suspected arson attack on its office cabins.

The cabins at TCS Waste Ltd, in Great Harwood, were gutted by fire on Wednesday evening.

The owner of the business said that the attack could potentially leave the firm with £60,000 in lost revenues.

Furious owner Jimmy Miller, who said the cabins at the Heys Lane site were not insured, said: "All my paperwork has been lost and we won't be able to bill our customers.

"We'll have to try and do it by memory, but there are so many jobs it'll be impossible.

"It shouldn't put the business at risk but it might cost me 50 or 60 grand. It's just one of those things.

"I'll have to get the offices replaced with a steel building.

"I'll bet it was deliberate, because there's a patch where the fire seems to have been lit."

Mr Miller has promised a reward to anyone who provides information leading to the conviction of anyone responsible for the fire.

The cabins also contained computer terminals, a kitchen and a toilet.

No-one was on the site at the time, but Mr Miller, who lives in Altham, was alerted by a neighbour.

Fire crews, who believe the fire was started deliberately shortly before 7pm, said there was also a gas cylinder in the cabin, but luckily this did not explode.

They said it was not clear if someone had intended to destroy the building, or had lost control of a bonfire lit within the cabins.

Police, who were also called to the scene, put a road closure in place while the fire was dealt with.

An investigation is now taking place to find out how exactly the fire began.
