A DRUNK father of three who carried out a brutal, sustained attack on the petrified mother of his children, has been locked up for a year.

Burnley Crown Court heard how Jamie Bowker-Holiday, 22, turned up outside his vulnerable ex-partner’s home, where she was talking to another man. He shouted at the victim, threatened her, hit the man and grabbed hold of her.

The pair ended up inside her flat, where Bowker-Holiday pinned her against a wall, put his arm around her throat, punched her in the face, grabbed her arms and as she tried to butt him, stubbed a cigarette out on her finger.

He dragged her into the bedroom, pushed her down on the bed and put the pillow and duvet on her face.

The victim was terrified and crying, but the defendant then bit her arm and pulled her into the living room.

He was eventually arrested, but had no recollection of what he had done.

The hearing was told the victim, who had taken out two non-molestation orders, but become pregnant again by Bowker- Holiday during the first one, was taken to hospital.

She had suffered lumps to her head, grazes, bruises, a burn mark to her hand, a sore jaw and black eye. She felt the beating lasted about 40 minutes.

Bowker-Holiday, who had four offences on his record, had received the 12 month non-molestation order last December.

He had a conviction for a public order offence involving the victim.

The defendant, of Princess Street, Great Harwood, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and breaching the non-molestation order, on September 4. He received another, 12 month, non-molestation order, banning him from threatening violence to Ms Kassakitas, from contacting her and from going within 100 metres of her home in Richmond Avenue, Accrington.

Sentencing him, Recorder Suzanne Goddard, QC, told him: “This was a serious, sustained attack, in my view. She was a vulnerable victim.”
