Clayton-le-Moors pair pay the penalty for rubbish
5:04pm Wednesday 23rd November 2011 in Clayton-le-Moors
BACK yards filled with mounds of rubbish saw two residents landed with fines and costs of over £500 each.
Jessica Heap, 20 of Albert Street, Clayton-le-Moors, ignored a notice to clean up her back yard which was full of general household rubbish, nappies and dog faeces.
She didn’t attend court and was ordered by magistrates to pay over £580 in fines and costs including those for the council to clear the rubbish.
Lee Moores, of Victor Street, also Clayton-le-Moors, did appear in court and was also fined over £580 for ignoring a notice to clear up her back yard in the town, which was full of black refuse bags.
Hyndburn’s deputy leader Clare Pritchard said: “This is yet another example of our tough stance on this type of anti social behaviour.
"We won’t put up with it; it’s both unsightly and costly as our own staff have to clear up the mess.”
