A CHARITY in memory of a young boy who was killed by a single punch will be taking part in a 10k walk to raise money in his memory.

A total of 20 members from the ‘Every Action Has Consequences’ charity will be taking part in the Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle’s annual event on Sunday, May 14.

The group will be led by Pat Rogers, whose son Adam died almost eight years ago after being hit by a single punch while he was acting as peacemaker in a fight in Blackburn town centre.

The charity uses Adam’s story to get young people to challenge the casual attitudes to violence and ‘binge’ drinking.

The group will be taking part in the 12th consecutive annual walk which will take place from Junction Seven Business Park in Clayton-le-Moors and go along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Rotarian Ron Pickup, organiser of the event, said: “The purpose of this walk is to allow charities and good causes to raise money through sponsorship which provides vital income that is the lifeblood of such organisations.

“In the case of ‘Every Action Has Consequences’ we are more than pleased to see them promote their cause and wish them well for what they are doing.”
