A SCHOOL in Hyndburn has been told by education watchdogs that it still has ‘fundamental weaknesses’ which need addressing.
An inspection of Sacred Heart Primary in Church last March deemed it ‘satisfactory’ but highlighted concerns regarding pupils’ progress, attendance and behaviour.
But following a return visit by Ofsted’s Ruth James in July, signficant issues were again idenitified with the Bradshaw Row school.
Mrs James said in a report that ‘since the last inspection there has been a number of long-term staff absences through sickness and maternity leave’.
This had led her to determine that Sacred Heart had made ‘inadequate progress’ against the targets set last spring.
The inspector did remark upon improvements in attendance and extra efforts to boost the school’s information technology profile.
Governors at school have agreed to ask for additional support from the county council’s schools intervention team.
