A SCHOOL in Church has been maintained its 'outstanding' rating in its latest inspection.

Church, St Nicholas' CE Primary School was visited last month by inspectors carrying out a SIAMS report for Church of England schools.

The 'inspirational leadership' of headteacher Vicky Axon was one of a number of factors praised in the report.

The school's motto is 'Growing together in our love, for God, learning and life’ and inspectors said it 'actively reflects' the motto.

Inspector Fiona Ashton said in her report: "It is a happy school community where distinctly Christian values are promoted by the headteacher, her leadership team and governors so that they permeate all areas of school life.

"This raises the aspirations and sense of wellbeing of learners."

To further improve she said the school can continue to respond to new curriculum requirements in RE and further develop children's knowledge of world faiths.

The school was last rated 'outstanding' in its inspection in April 2012.
