AN 18-year-old man armed himself with a vacuum cleaner extension pipe and used it to threaten a neighbour because he was annoyed the other man's security light was shinning into his house.

Blackburn magistrates heard Drazic Reece Payton also lost his temper when he was told to leave his girlfriend alone.

Payton, of Henry Street, Church, pleaded guilty to two charges of using threatening behaviour. He was made subject to a community order for 18 months with a 50 day rehabilitation activity requirement, fined £50 and ordered to pay £85 victim surcharge.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said Payton clearly had problems with his temper.

He had shouted abuse and threats at his neighbour and then became upset when his girlfriend said she was staying at her mum's address.

He was banned from her home by a restraining order.

"He was obviously upset and went round to the address where his girlfriend's sister's boyfriend answered the door and told him to go away," said Mrs Mann.

"He was abusive and the other man later received some threatening messages about his car being damaged."

Gareth Price, defending, said the offences went back seven months and nothing had come to the attention of the police in the meantime.
