A COUNCILLOR has said roadworks near a busy route in Hyndburn being carried out at night will avert ‘chaos’.
From Monday, May 15, until Friday, June 2, work will be carried out in Church between 9pm and 6am.
Roads from Dunkenhalgh Way to Henry Street and Manor Place will be closed for 150 metres.
Hyndburn Road will also be closed from its junction with Manor Place for 150 metres.
The work being carried out by Lancashire County Council is to allow resurfacing of the road and markings to be drawn.
Cllr Peter Britcliffe, who represents Oswaldtwistle on Hyndburn Council, said: “I welcome that the work is being done at night.
“The road’s are very busy, it’s a main route for people going to Church, Oswaldtwistle and Accrington.
“It’s been chaos in that area for some time now with roadworks, there’s been an awful lot of money being spent in that area on work.”
