GROUPS have teamed up to tackle issues of waste in Hyndburn.

Last week Hyndburn Homes joined up with the borough council’s Cllr Loraine Cox, and several residents of Howarth Avenue in Church to tackle some of the waste that had accumulated in the surrounding area.

The event was organised by local neighbourhood manager, Lindsey King, who looks after both the Church and Milnshaw areas.

The area had come under criticism after many residents complained about the debris that had been left in the area.

Church ward’s Cllr Cox said: “I had received several complaints about this road and had passed these concerns on to Hyndburn Homes.

“Hyndburn Homes have been fantastic, they have pulled in the ACE team and several staff members plus handed out leaflets explaining the situation and encouraging local residents to get involved.

“This is why I was more than happy to lend my support and roll my sleeves up and get involved.”

Residents involved said they thought the event was a ‘great success’ with several former grot sports cleaned and cleared.
