POLICE hunting an armed robber who threatened a post office worker in Blackburn with a handgun say they now believe he fled to Belthorn.
Det Sgt Adrain McHugh said the man, who escaped empty handed on a bicycle from Guide Post Office, either lives nearby or used another vehicle to escape the area.
Yesterday Louise Mitchell, who was working at Guide Post Office on her own at the time, was back at work in defiance of the raid.
Mrs Mitchell was praised after standing up to the raider early on Tuesday.
She refused to hand over any cash and hit a panic alarm, alerting police.
The robber fled on a bicycle which he had left outside the Haslingden Road shop.
DS McHugh said: “Several eye-witnesses have already come forward.
“We believe he fled across a footpath to Belthorn on a bicycle.
“CCTV footgate is being analysed and door to door inquiries in Belthorn are taking place.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0845 125 3545 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
