TWO East Lancashire men will spend four and a half months trekking 1,350 miles to help cancer patients.
Frank Whittaker, 60, from Shelley Drive, Baxenden, and Phillip Chippendale, 58, of Broadfield, Oswaldtwistle, aim to fulfil a dream they've had for 10 years - walking from Land's End to John O' Groats.
They start their journey on Tuesday and will follow the most scenic routes north and discover more about hidden Britain.
The pair, who have been walking partners since meeting in the Plough Inn, Oswaldtwistle, 10 years ago, say it's been a long-held dream they never got around to untill now. Phillip, a semi-retired property renovator, also had two hip operations in 2006 but says he's now "back up and running".
Retired engineer Frank said: "We both love distance walking - the best bit is going for a beer after a good long walk! We have been walking partners for years and often discussed doing Land's End to John O'Groats. It finally became a reality when I retired this year.
"Most people will probably think we're as daft as a brush, but hopefully they'll support a good cause."
The pair have already raised £500 before setting off, after Frank's daughter, Janet, set up a website where anyone can log on and sponsor them.
