A FORMER deputy headteacher will appear in court charged with 46 cases of historical sex offences and child cruelty.

Grahame Brennand, 69, is accused of 22 offences of indecent assault and cruelty against a total of 11 victims of both genders at St John’s Primary School in Baxenden.

The alleged offences were committed between 1973 and 1996.

Brennand, of Calder Avenue in Preston, faces a total of 46 offences after he was charged in March with 24 counts of indecent assault against 13 former female pupils at the same school.

Those alleged offences were committed between 1974 and 1988 when Mr Brennand was a teacher and then deputy headteacher at the school.

All the alleged victims were aged 10 at the time, police said.
