Police called to an incident in Baxenden found a car buried in the wall of a house.

Blackburn magistrates heard the driver was still at the scene and there was “tension” between him and a crowd of local people who had gathered at the scene.

Joshua Kyle Pye, 18, of Eddleston Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was fined £300 with £115 costs and banned from driving for 17 months.

Mike Wallbank, prosecuting, said police arrived at the junction of Icconhurst Close and Victoria Avenue, Baxenden at around 11.30pm to find a crowd had gathered.

“A silver car was in the garden but when the police got closer they realised it had entered the house and caused substantial damage,” said Mr Wallbank.

“The defendant accepted he had been driving and he was clearly under the influence of alcohol.”

Gareth Price, defending, said his client, a serving soldier, had been to a friend’s house and had not intended to drive.
