A BADLY burned dog is on the road to recovery after suffering horrific injuries when she was scalded by boiling tea.

The black and tan cross breed, who has been re-named Lucy, is now in need of a new home.

The dog, once named Lucky, has been staying at Altham Animal Centre since being rescued from her Accrington home.

Her former owner, Deborah Hargreaves, 48, of Cobham Road, was banned from keeping animals for two years after pleading guilty to animal cruelty.

She was ordered to pay £200 in costs by Hyndburn magistrates last week.

RSPCA inspector Lisa Lupson said the animal had suffered the "most severe injuries" she had ever seen.

Lucy is described as "really friendly" with a nice temperament.

Because of her nervous nature she is not suitable to be in a home with young children.

Animal centre deputy manager Steve Carpenter said: "I'm confident Lucy will find a home because she has the 'aah' factor. She'd make a lovely pet."

Anyone interested can contact the animal centre on 01254 231118.

some people don't know you can take your pets to the vets and pay in installments. That's why half the population have dead rabbits in their back gardens.Which leads me to think u nob heads and do-gooders out there know f all about f all. Of course she was hurting, don't you think she was up night after night bathing her.Now lucky has lost her mum and home on top of everything. An old dog who only loves Debbie no one wins dick heads. She did her best not knowing she had other options.Kids are abused day in and day out yet you say F all thats why the older generations say WHATS THE WORLD COMING TO.Get your priorities right love animals but you lot have such tunnel vision lets hope none of u ever do something useful with your life and join the army or we are all f****d
