A CANCER charity has thanked a Haslingden group after it raised £1,000.

The New Venue social group has held lunch clubs and coffee mornings for the last six months at the Community Room in Greenfield Gardens.

It also arranged raffles and cake sales after choosing Rosemere Cancer Foundation as its official charity.

Organiser Caroline Thompson said she was delighted to help.

She said: “We chose to support Rosemere as cancer has touched many of us within the group. You never know when you may need them in the future.”
Dan Hill, East Lancashire fundraising co-ordinator at Rosemere, added: “I was delighted to go and accept a cheque for £1,000 from The New Venue on behalf of Rosemere.

“After attending on Saturdays over the past few months, I can see that they have a great spirit and work ethic within the group, which is reflected in the excellent amount of money they have raised between themselves.”
