AN AMBULANCE worker from Altham has been honoured for 30 years’ service.
Emergency medical technician David Bourke, 56, based at Altham ambulance station, was presented with a shield at a ceremony organised by North West Ambulance Service.
Staff from East Lancashire made up 200 of the 1,600 years of service recognised during celebrations at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal.
Health chiefs presented accolades to staff reaching milestones of 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years' service.
And the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord Shuttleworth, attended the ceremony to award The Queen’s Long Service and Good Conduct medal to those who had fulfilled 20 years’ exemplary frontline duties.
Head of service, Peter Mulcahy, paid tribute to Mr Bourke’s work for the service.
He said: “Our staff are without doubt our greatest asset and work extremely hard to ensure the public receive the service they deserve.”
