Teenager molested by Accrington cab driver

A CABBIE who molested a teenage passenger is behind bars awaiting a long jail term.

Zameer Arshad, 23, was found guilty of sexually assaulting the 17-year-old, after a trial at Burnley Crown Court.

The defendant, of Richmond Hill Street, Accrington, had denied the allegation.

Judge Beverley Lunt remanded him in custody until February 10, for a pre-sentence report and told him a custodial sentence of some length was inevitable.

The judge, who ordered him to sign the sex offenders’ register, said she would have to consider the issue of dangerousness.

Alan 7554 its funny how just by reading the individuals name u assume he was born outside the u.k n therefore should be deported, but its most likely he was born in the u.k seeing his age, and the other thing being if it was a caucasian person in question i.e the full church system in the u.k, what should be done with them? if someone who was born here but is a different colour can be deported then I am pretty sure the same should all who engage in such disgusting practices regardless of ethnicity.

Aggravating feature is that this guy was in a position - by being a cab driver - where he found it easy to take advantage of a paying vulnerable young passenger who trusted him to drive her home!
He should be placed on the sex offenders register for life in case he ever tries to get a taxi driving job again. (His nationality is of no consequence!)

So what firm was he working for when he did this then?

It was Central Taxis, who immediately suspended him once they had learnt of the crime (when he was arrested, two days afterwards). The majority of taxi drivers are like people in general, good people, but like folks in general, there are some who are opportunists....ones who are unfortunately in the perfect position to take advantage of drunk girls. Part of the solution: avoid getting drunk. Make sure the taxi driver sees you sending their license plate in a text to their friend etc

Why do you mention girls when there is no mention of the sex of the victim and also just because the person is drunk no one has the right to molest or sexually assault that person.
I agree with most other comments though , He should never be given a taxi badge or other work where He could commit this kind of crime.
