Shake-up will see new buses in Burnley and Pendle

EXTRA buses are being promised for various parts of Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale as part of a public transport shake-up for September.

An extra bus will run to Earby each hour, as part of the Transdev Burnley and Pendle Mainline service, linking Burnley, Accrington, Nelson, Colne and West Craven.

And the number 29 service to Skipton, introduced earlier this year on a trial, has now been extended to run every half an hour.

The operator is also experimenting with the introduction of one bus per hour from Burnley, running through Colne to the North Valley Retail Park.

The changes will result in the retiming of services to Keighley, through Colne, with these routes leaving Yorkshire eight minutes earlier.

Further minor alterations are also planned for the Barnolds-wick and Trawden buses, according to transport officials, with the moves taking effect from next Monday.

A Transdev Burnley and Pendle spokesman said: “The changes are being introduced to improve the reliability and efficiency of our services.”

It has also been announced that Sunday buses on the 152 Burnley to Preston service will no longer be diverted via Altham Industrial Estate.

Yesterday saw the start of a planned extra daily bus, being laid on by Rossendale Transport, for its 273 Rawtenstall to Bolton route, also running through Ramsbottom, just after 5pm.

Roadworks caused by the ongoing utility works in Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, have also resulted in a series of diversions for the 464 Accrington to Rochdale service.

Sounds like Transdev are trying to force Skipton route competitors Pennine Motor Services out of business ?

Course if Pennine gave us faster journeys and decent buses we wouldn't need Transdev to run a service.
