TWO women were freed from their vehicle after a serious two-car smash on the Accrington by-pass.
Fire crews from Accrington and Rawtenstall were called to the scene at 1.20pm on Tuesday, close to the exit with the M65 motorway.
A car, in which a mother and daughter were travelling, was damaged in the accident, trapping the women inside.
As the women complained of neck pain, firefighters took off the roof to remove them using a back board.
They were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
