WORK is set to start on building a new £1m stand at Accrington Stanley FC next week.
The Whinney Hill ‘Cowshed’ stand will house 1,100 spectators, inclusive of new toilet facilities and careering outlets and among the features will also include new floodlights and is expected to start next Tuesday.
Money to fund the project will come from the club and be match-funded by the Football Foundation.
“It’s a 30-week project,” said managing director David Burgess.
“The ‘Cowshed’ will be demolished and work will start on Tuesday, be ongoing over the summer and into next season and be hopefully ready before Christmas.”
Meanwhile, Readstone Construction announced on their Facebook page that they would be working on the development.
The Altham-based firm have been awarded the contract to build the stand at the Wham Stadium.
