THE deputy leader of Hyndburn has cycled nearly 50 miles to raise money in memory of the victims of the Manchester terror attacks.

Cllr Paul Cox, who represents the Milnshaw ward, took part in the ride from Bradford to Manchester along with around 50 cyclists who set off from Bradford city centre.

The ride was organised by Rifaqat Ali, a community co-ordinator at Bradford Council, in partnership with his counterpart in Manchester Shazia Awan and raised money for the 'We Love Manchester Emergency Fund'.

The cyclists set off from the City Park, Bradford at 9am and pedalled through Halifax, Todmorden and Rochdale before arriving in Manchester at around 4.30pm.

Cllr Cox said: "I heard about the ride via colleges from Burnley and Yorkshire and felt the need to do something to show that the people of Hyndburn need to show support to our friends in Manchester.

"Undertaking this ride to help promote unity and support just felt like a small part I could play.

"Riding 46 miles falls into perspective when you imagine the things some of those people went though that night in Manchester."

The ride was organised to show support for the 22 victims of the Manchester arena bomb attack.
