STAFF at an Accrington school are calling on people to help combat parking problems.
Peel Park Primary School in Alice Street has said it suffers with people parking outside the building.
As well as cars posing as a danger to children, complaints have also been made to the school by people in the area about the number of vehicles.
Staff said they have tried opening school doors 10 minutes earlier to help stop the issue but it has persisted.
A spokesman for the school said: “Unfortunately, we are having ongoing problems with parking outside school.
“We have had lots of complaints about cars parking on the zigzag lines, making it extremely dangerous for our children to cross the road.
“Local residents have also reported that their drives are often blocked before and after school.”
The school has also tried to combat the problem by encouraging students to walk to school during the summer months.
It is also offering a ‘golden shoe award’ to the class which has the most students walking to school in an attempt to encourage pupils to get active.
Alternatively students can take part in the school’s ‘Park and Stride’ initiative which involves parking further away.
