DETECTIVES have said they are continuing to investigate after a man suffered injuries in Accrington.

Early reports suggested he may have suffered a number of stab wounds, but police this afternoon said he had only suffered minor injuries, including cuts.

Officers were called at around 9.40pm last night following reports of an incident in Richmond Street.

A police spokesman said: "It appears that a 28-year-old man from Accrington was involved in a confrontation with a group of men known to him and suffered some minor cuts.

"He was treated at hospital and discharged."

Police are appealing for witnesses but there is no on-going or wider threat to the public.
