A KITTEN barely six-weeks-old was rescued by a group of cat lovers from Accrington after being stuck in a drain pipe for 12 hours.

‘Leaf’ a black moggie, was saved after being found trapped in the pipe in the yard of the New Era complex off Paradise Street.

After several hours and attempts made by Andy Richards, to reach the kitten, Alan Greer, owner of No Dig Drainage Solutions in Rishton, used a special camera to look inside the drain.

Leaf was eventually rescued after he managed to jump up out of the drainpipe at an up turned manhole cover and was cornered in a nearby shop.

Mr Richards said: “The poor thing was absolutely terrified, he was screeching so loudly.

“We took him to be checked over and was completely fine.

“He was a stray and now lives at home with me, he’s a very lucky kitten.”
