A 42-year-old woman who couldn't be bothered joining the queue at her local store walked out without paying for £16 of chocolate.

Blackburn magistrates heard Lisa Margaret Riding had been given a lift to the shop by a neighbour because it was raining.

And she was eventually traced after staff took his car registration number.

Riding, of Ribbleton Drive, Accrington, pleaded guilty to shoplifting. She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £16 compensation, £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.
