The company had a registered office in Sheffield but its principal trading address was The Calder, in Blackburn Road.

Councillors and residents have raised concerns over the future of the bar as no official announcement has yet been made over its future.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Cllr June Harrison said: “Times are tough at the moment for everybody.

“It’s hard enough to live, let alone enjoy yourself out in town.

“It’s very tough for businesses out there.

“It has been there for a long time and people might well be concerned for its future.

“I will try to find out more information about what exactly is going on.”

Kelly Burton and Joanne Wright, both of Wilson Field Limited, which is based in Sheffield, have been appointed as joint administrators, according to the London Gazette.

The pub was set up by the Barracuda Group in 2006 but ownership was transferred before the organisation, which was rebranded as the Bramwell Pub Company, entered administration in 2013.

The bar’s official Facebook page has revealed, in a single comment on the social networking site, that it has “closed down” and the provided phone number has been disconnected.

According to the page, the last event to be held at the bar was a Hallowe’en night on Saturday, October 31.

Writing on Twitter, Accrington resident Andy Taylor said: “I can’t believe that The Calder has been closed down. I used to go in there a bit and I hope that it is reopened soon.”

According to the Christie+Co website, a business property selling firm, The Calder’s leasehold is on the market for £50,000, the annual rent is £60,000 and the lease is dated for 35 years from 2005.
