UNITED Utilities has apologised to customers in Accrington affected by a burst pipe this morning.
Residents were warned water could be coming out their taps slower than usual or not at all after a water main burst on grass off Ormerod Street.
A spokeswoman said engineers worked throughout the night to try and complete repairs before morning broke.
She said: "We needed to turn the pipe off to do the repair and used our water tanks to help keep supplies going into the area.
"We hoped we would finish overnight so the supply would be back to normal as people were getting up.
"However the pipe was very deep and because we were digging in a field, we needed more support for the excavation."
Everything was repaired and back to normal by 9.50am this morning, she added.
A spokesman had earlier said: "We’re sorry for the trouble this may be causing you and we will get your taps flowing normally again as quickly as we can."
