A PROBE has been launched after two separate burglaries were carried out in the same Accrington street over the weekend.

Thieves struck twice in Manchester Road in just 12 hours on Saturday — leading police to investigate whether the two incidents are linked.

A white male wearing gloves was disturbed while ransacking a house at around 10.20am, fleeing empty-handed on foot.

And an unknown offender stole £500 in cash, jewellery, and keys to a Ford Fiesta from a different home in the street between 10pm and 10.30pm.

It is believed the burglar got inside through a window before making off with his loot inside the Ford, which was reported stolen.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “Local officers are looking at whether these incidents are linked.

“We are asking for residents in the Manchester Road and Harcourt Road area to be vigilant. This is to raise awareness and to ask that, if you have any concerns or see anything suspicious, please report this to us.”

Anybody with information about the first incident has been asked to call police on 101, quoting log number 753 of August 1 .
