A police spokesman said: “These vehicles will be given a section 59 [order], which could ultimately result in the vehicle being seized if they are seen doing this.
“Investigations are being conducted regarding registrations of some vehicles that have been passed to the police.
“The manner in which the vehicles are being driven could result in someone being injured or seriously hurt so patrols have been increasingly paying attention.
“As a result, drug activity has also been identified in the area and dealt with appropriately.”
Section 59 orders are used to deal with motorists driving in a careless or inconsiderate manner, or one which may cause alarm, distress, or annoyance to the public.
Issued against both a driver and a vehicle, the orders last for 12 months.
Once two orders are issued, the police have the power to seize the vehicle.
