A DISGRUNTLED teenager bombarded his step-father with more than 550 text messages.

The messages were all sent over a four-day period, despite Wade Rushton being banned from having any contact with him.

Blackburn magistrates heard Rushton had already served a prison sentence for breaching a restraining order imposed in August.

In the latest breach, he sent sick messages threatening to kill his grandmother and sent photographs to his father, threatening to burn his grandmother in her flat and slit both their throats.

Rushton, 18, of Rothwell Avenue, Accrington, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order in favour of Andrew Rushton.

He was remanded in custody until January 22 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said when the messages started arriving Mr Rushton deleted them but as they became more frequent and more threatening he went to the police.

She said: “He was concerned that, when under the influence of drugs, his step-son may carry out some of the threats.”

Colleen Dickinson-Jones, defending, said Rushton had had a number of issues to deal with while he was growing up.

She said: “My client felt his adopted family did not give him the support he needed.

“You can appreciate just how complex the issues are and he has failed to come to terms with matters that remain unresolved. He feels so let down by his father and his family.”
