PLANS to houses and shops as part of the multi-million pound Woodnook regeneration project have been lodged with the council.

Developer PlaceFirst wants to install new shop fronts to retail properties in Nuttall Street, and to put in railings, gates, and handrails along the street. Work is also planned for a short section of Royds Street.

In a statement, Paul Butler Associates said: “58 Nuttall Street is to be converted for use as a residential dwelling as part of the changes proposed to three residential properties.

“The application site lies within Woodnook which is characterised by Victorian terraced streets in a grid network with long alleyways running down the rear of most properties.

“Nuttall Street and Royds Street are located within this grid-iron street pattern. Nuttall Street and Royds Street provide routes through the area and accommodate more activity and traffic than some of the surrounding streets.”

The Lancashire Telegraph reported last month how the first families were ready to move into some of the newly completed homes in Nuttall Street. The new £15 million neighbourhood is expected to see residents move in before Christmas.
