A spokesman said officers and youth services staff travelled gave advice to the youngsters — even if they did not want to hear it.

He said: "The aim was to provide them with a safe environment to spend their time, especially in order to protect their welfare, reduce the risk of them getting into trouble, and to provide residents with the quality of life they deserve.

"This was done by listening to what they wanted, and providing services they weren't aware of. Juveniles that didn't listen were warned of the possible consequences of their behaviour.

"Numerous details were obtained and hopefully some of the areas will see a positive effect."
