A CRIME scene remains in place in Rishton after a robbery at the town’s post office.
Lancashire police’s Force Major Investigation Team were conducting enquiries after cash and valuables were stolen following a raid last night.
One man is believed to have been tied up during the incident, although police said he was not seriously injured.
Around a dozen police officers were called to the scene, on the corner of High Street and George Street, at around 6.30pm on Friday.
Part of George Street was cordoned off while officers investigated, and the post office’s alarm continued to sound for hours afterwards.
Inspector Abid Khan, from Blackburn police, said: “It’s a pretty nasty job. There will be a crime scene manager down there today and they won’t be rushed into anything, they will take their time to assess it.
“I’m sure it was an unpleasant incident for those involved. Cash and valuables were taken.
“We will be checking CCTV and taking a statement from the postmaster.”
Last November, a female post office worker was injured when burglars assaulted her after they smashed through a window as she closed up the shop.
Anyone with information is urged to call 101.
