Bus trapped under bridge in Accrington

A BUS has got stuck after hitting a railway bridge in Accrington, and firefighters are working to free it.

Police were called to the accident in Lonsdale Road, at 4.38pm, and are dealing with traffic in the area. No injuries have been reported.

Northern Rail services between Blackburn and Colne and Hebden Bridge have been delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Carolyn Watson of Northern Rail said: “We were alerted just before 5pm that there had been a bridge strike in Lonsdale Road, Accrington.

“In these instances, the line is closed and Northern Rail engineers are sent out to check the bridge structure, to make sure it is safe to transport something across.”

The LET are just SO good at reporting anything outside of Blackburn...
It IS indeed Lonsdale Street.
How on earth does a bus get stuck under that bridge? They must have taken some kind of detour in the first place as it's not a bus route.

Any bus driver of truck driver who drives into an obstacle like that should recive a ban and be made to retake the test relevant to there career!!!!

People could have died !!!!
