Reward to catch killers of dog drowned in East Lancs canal

ANIMAL rights group PETA has offered a £1,000 reward after a dog was drowned in the canal in East Lancashire.

The wire-haired terrier was found in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal under the bridge off Burnley Road, near to Moorfield Way, Altham, on August 2.

Tests revealed Freddie was alive when he was thrown into the water.

Suzanne Barnard, PETA’s education manager, said: “Animal abusers are cowards who take their anger out on the most defenseless beings available to them.”

An RSPCA inspector said the killing of 18-month-old terrier Freddie was the worst cruelty she had seen in her career.
