MORE than £2,000 has been raised towards a lifelines school mini-bus thanks to the help of Accrington Stanley.
Broadfield Specialist School in Oswaldtwistle is looking to raise £16,000 to buy its school mini-bus which they are in danger of losing due to cuts.
A fundraising campaign has been launched by parents which has been boosted by a £1,000 donation from Stanley owner Andy Holt.
Donation buckets have also been put out at the Wham Stadium to encourage people to donate if they go for a free photo with the League Two trophy.
Parent Heather Waddington, 47, from Baxenden, set up the campaign with Lauren Cheetham to raise the money.
Pupils and staff at the school visited the stadium with the campaign organisers to collect the donation and get a photo with the trophy.
She said: "It's brilliant we've got a club like Accrington Stanley to help us out.
"The minibus is a vital part of this school as it is important that the pupils can get into the community and learn life skills and also prepare them for the future."
A donation has also been made of £500 to Keenan's Estate Agents.
A charity 80s event has also been arranged to raise money at Enfield Cricket Club in Accrington on Saturday May 19.
Tickets for the event are now on sale at £10 including supper a former pupil of the school is the DJ.
For tickets call Heather 07960459091 or Lauren 07468534862.
