STAFF at Accrington Stanley Community Trust have revised boundary plans for its controversial £2million sports hub after comments from police.

Last month plans were submitted by the charity for it's new community hub at Highams Playing Fields in Thorneyholme Road, which has seen objections from protestors.

A crime impact statement from Lancashire Constabulary raised concerns over potential crime in the area and asked for plans to extend proposals for paladin fencing and include CCTV camera.

Alterations have now been made for the two metre high fencing to extend to cover behind the parking bays.

A spokesman for the trust said: "This provides a more secure solution for the site while still allowing the fence to be screened by the existing trees and the proposed planting.

"The re-positioned fence will result in the car park and the refuse store coming within the perimeter fence thus reducing the opportunity for crime."

CCTV and lighting plans have also been included in the alterations.
