A 22-YEAR-OLD suffering from quadriplegic cerebral palsy has collected 100,000 signatures in his campaign to improve conditions across the country for people with disabilities.

Zack Kerr from Howard Close, Accrington has been gaining support via his online petition to install accessible changing room facilities installed at all UK motorway service stations over the past two months.

He is now celebrating after reaching 100,000 signatures as he works to help those who require suitable spaces and the assistance of a carer when needing toilet and changing facilities during long journeys.

Mr Kerr said: “Hitting 100,000 is something I never dreamed of when the campaign started at the beginning of August with the signatures of just 200 friends and family members

“I’d like to thank my family and friends in Accrington for their support with the campaign and enabling me to go to meetings and interviews.

“Many people have signed because the campaign will hopefully have s positive result on the lives of do many disabled adults and children and their families.”

The former student at Beaumont College in Lancaster also thanked Hyndburn MP Graham Jones for his support and arranging a trip to London to present his petition.

As part of his campaigning Mr Kerr has set up a blog to document his progress.

He said some of the highlights include being giving two presentations to students at Nelson and Colne College about living with his disability.

However Mr Kerr said there was a long away to go until services are available up and down the country.

He said: “I’ve received so many thousands of messages and emails of support from people all over the country and some as far away as Brazil.

“They are all giving me support and encouragement to continue with the campaign.

“There are lots of exciting things in the pipeline and my diary is filling up with more presentations and meetings.”

He also said his mum Kristianne Kerr and step-father Ceri Davies were ‘very proud’ of what he has achieved.
