COUNCILLORS in Church have taken part in a ward walkabout to help tackle issues in the area raised by resident.

Cllr Loraine Cox and Cllr Jean Battle undertook the walk around the Hyndburn Homes properties to look at several issues in the area that had been highlighted.

Lindsay King, Hyndburn Homes Neighbourhood housing officer for Church joined the walk to take note of the concerns.

Issues raised by residents included community lighting problems around Walmsley Close, anti-social behaviour issues and the condition of some of the outdoor areas around the estate.

Cllr Cox said: “The provision of lighting is the biggest concern for many we speak to.

“That’s why it’s important for us to get out and about in the ward.”

Both Hyndburn Homes and the ward councillors are looking at a joint project to help solve this issue.

Cllr Battle said: “Its important to work with local partners to help address this issues.

“It’s also important to get out and meet residents on the door step.

“Undertaking these things with the local neighbourhood officers helps identify problems and allows us to look at solutions.”
