PEOPLE in the borough are being urged to look out for voter registration detail forms in the post.
Hyndburn Council is asking residents to check for the form which will enable them to update the information that appears on the electoral register.
The form ensures the council can keep the register up to date and identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.
With local elections taking place in Hyndburn in May 2018, council bosses have said this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they will be able to take part.
People who have moved address recently are particularly encouraged to keep an eye out for the form and check the details.
Jane Ellis, electoral registration officer at Hyndburn Council, said: “It’s important that residents respond as soon as possible, so we can make sure we have the right details on the electoral register for every address in Hyndburn.
"Simply check the form when it arrives and respond as soon as you can."
Research by the independent Electoral Commission indicates recent home movers are far less likely to be registered than those that have lived at the same address for a long time.
Any residents who have any questions can contact their local registration team at Hyndburn Council on 01254 388111.
