A 28-YEAR-OLD man has appeared before magistrates charged with a number off offences arising from an incident in Whalley New Road, Blackburn on Friday when a car was set on fire.
Mark Anthony Findlay, of Countess Street, Accrington, is charged with wounding Kamran Ali with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, failing to stop after a road accident, which resulted in injury to Mr Ali, arson involving a Vauxhall Corsa belonging to Cheryl Swallow and doing an act, namely setting fire to the car, with intent to pervert the course of public justice.
Blackburn magistrates heard he is also charged with unauthorised taking of the car aggravated by dangerous driving, driving without insurance or licence, assaulting Laura Findlay causing her actual bodily harm and theft of a mobile phone belonging to her.
Findlay was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court where he will appear on July 17.
