ACCRINGTON Camera Club is set to mark its 115th birthday by launching its annual exhibition.

The photographic gallery will be opened at 6.30pm on Friday, June 9, at Haworth Art Gallery.

The club has 45 members and meets weekly at the Primetime Centre in Stourton Street, Rishton.

Vice president Harry Emmett said: “There’s going to be quite a lot of interesting work on show, there’s a lot of good photographers around today.

“We hope people will take inspiration from this and all our history, and get involved.

“A lot of people just don’t take the trouble in the digital age, it’s a shame.”

The exhibition will be opened by Hyndburn Mayor Cllr Peter Britcliffe.

The most famous contribution to the camera club's annual gallery in the past came from Prince Phillip in 1977 when he sent over wildlife images.

The club paid tribute to him recently when he announced his retirement.
