A TRIBUTE event is to be held to raise money for a mum-of-two battling cancer.

Rebecca Burns, 38, is undergoing treatment for breast cancer after being diagnosed around four months ago.

The mum-of-two, who lives in the Burnley Road area of Accrington, has had one breast removed and is due to have the other removed in the next few weeks.

Her family are regulars at the Clifton Arms pub in Blackburn, which is putting on a Big Tribute Event to raise money for Rebecca and her two children Jack, who is six months old and Lisa, two, and the Breast Cancer Care charity.

Rebecca’s dad Danny Burns, 58, said: “Her mother Denise had breast cancer twice and she was told to have her four children checked.

“Out of the four, two of them had the gene.

“Rebecca was told if she wanted to have another child she would have to do it quickly because they were going to take her womb away."

The event will be held at the Grimshaw Park pub on Bank Holiday Sunday (May 28).
